US Public Says Resounding “No!” to Anti Online Casino Bill
14 Aug 2006
Despite the fact that US senators Goodlatte and Kyle are going full steam ahead with their proposition to ban online casino gambling from the country’s borders, the American public is still having its reservations about the proposed HR 4411 bill. Although the bill still has to pass the Senate vote, the future of online casino gambling certainly looks dicey at the moment. As the Senate vote date nears, more and more citizens are questioning the logic behind the anti online casino bill and are having their opinions known via polls and blogs.

Last week, CNBC ran a poll asking the public’s opinion about the anti online casino gambling bill HR 4411. The question that was asked was: “Should all online casino gambling be legalized in the United States?” Over two and a half thousand people took part in the poll and the results were astounding. 91% of those questioned answered ‘yes’ to the question, showing once and for all that the general public is more interested in regulating the online casino industry, instead of banning it completely. A similar poll was run this year by the Wall Street Journal, and the results were not far off.

The online casino bill is also considered highly hypocritical by many, seeing as though it makes concessions for certain interest groups, including interstate lotteries and online horseracing. Many feel that if the good senators were so keen on ridding online casino gambling from their shores, they would include all forms of internet gambling.
